To Have A Business Web Site or not to have one, that is the question? |
|||||||||||||
There are basically two types of web sites. They are the Business and the Personal Web Site. Is there a difference between the two? Yes, there are several differences but here we want to mainly deal with a Business Web Site. If you would like a better understanding of a Personal web site, then feel free to move over to the Personal Web Site Page or have a look at our Portfolio Page. On the portfolio Page you will actually see how the two styles of web sites are different. |

To have a web site or to not have one? That is the really important question. The first question we must place in front of us is "why" do we need a web site? Better yet "do we really need one?" As a web designer I would immediately say "yes, you do." But do you really? Here are just a few samples of question business people like you ask themselves.
Let us take a look at each question by itself. Haven't you gotten along without one up too now? Sure you have, but is business still the same? Why would companies, like some of the really big stores (Eaton, Sears, Staples) have web sites? They still have the large number of people coming into their store. So why bother with the expense of a web site? I suppose the same could be said "why Advertise?" Why would anyone want to even tell people they are there? The reason is very simple, they want more business then they have right now. Surveys show that more and more people are not only shopping on line, but are actually seeing if what they are looking for may be fond at the store they want to go to. In a small village like Chesterville, Winchester, Finch and even Avonmore, you are competing with the large Malls in Cornwall and Ottawa. If people want an item and they can find it locally, where do you think they will buy it? Why would anyone drive all the way to Ottawa to buy something they could pickup right next door? The largest problem most of the time is people do not know if their local store carries the item they are looking for. They tend to check for it and if they really need it they will drive to Ottawa or Cornwall to get it. If you need something, the last thing people want to do is drive around looking for it. So would it not make sense to have a web site too show what you sell in your store? Your business does just fine without a web site, but suppose your competitor has one? Who will customers turn too if they are looking for something and are not sure if you have it? Studies show that once you loss your customer to another store, and they find things there, it will be harder for you to get them back. Why take a chance on losing your customers? Web sites can do a lot for your business from, advertising, to telling people who you are and what you can do for them. There are new people moving into your neighborhood every day. There are people moving out every day. Who will get the new customers? You don't need a dynamic web site with all those search engines and databases. All you may need to be ahead of the competitor is a very simple site at times. The question no longer maybe, "do I need a web site?" but "how do I get a web site?" or another simple way of putting it. "Do I make enough money and I'm happy at the amount of business I do?" or "do I want more?" If you are still undecided after reading this, then why not give us a call and let one of our staff members show you how you could be doing better, and how you could be attracting more people to your store, or how you could enter the world of E-business. After all, are you not in business to make money? |
